THE SEGMENTS: Aung Myat Htay

Aung Myat Htay only uses straight and curved line in his series, The Segments. There are no other representations. Less is more.

“In our lives, we live under formal representations and culture references as a way of accepting history. We cringe at the encounter of emptiness. I believe we are full of thoughts in the ultimate conditions such as time and space and desire to exist beyond representations. How to escape the walls of traditions or custom of visual culture?
How to get away from the barriers of common labels?  Each has their own struggle, losses, sufferings and disintegration. Do we have the potential to reintegrate these segments into our existence? To reconstruct?” – Aung Myat Htay

The Segments opens at Myanm/art on Friday, July 22 at 6 pm.
